Leads To Stabbing

On June 4th , 2024, at about 8 PM, Coalinga police Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Madison Street for a report of a stabbing.
Upon arriving, officers learned that two brothers had been involved in an argument which led to a physical fight, resulting in one brother stabbing the other brother in the chest. The suspect, identified as Coalinga resident Cezar Javier Oropeza-Velazquez, was arrested at the scene after a brief struggle with officers.
The victim was treated at the scene by Coalinga EMS and then transported to the Regional Medical Center in Fresno for further treatment of his wounds. Oropeza-Velasquez was later transported to the Fresno County Jail for attempted murder, resisting / obstructing officers, and parole violation. Oropeza-Velasquez has prior arrests for assault with a deadly weapon, narcotic violations, and is currently on parole for burglary.
